John Butler

 

I.T.E.C- Qualified with Diploma in Sports Injury/ Massage Therapy from Limerick Institute of Sports Injury & Massage in 2000. Since then John has treated a wide variety of injuries both sports related and general areas. Dealing with clients on a one to one professional basis at his clinic, he has also developed a large portfolio of sports clubs in all codes in Galway and has physically trained numerous hurling and football teams at adult level as well as attending to the clubs injury treatment needs. For the 2011 season John is involved with Mayo Senior Hurlers in a trainer/ coach/ selector capacity.

 

 

Therese Leahy

Laura Spelman

Laura is a graduate of University College Dublin with BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. She is a fully licensed Physiotherapist and a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.

 

Laura has gained a variety of experience in the HSE in areas such as Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Care of the Elderly, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and also in private practice in Chicago, USA.

 

Laura has a special interest in Neurology and Care of the Elderly. She has clinical experience working with people post stroke and a variety of neurological conditions. Also rehabilitating people post falls and fractures.

 

Laura has postgraduate training in Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute matwork level 1 and has a keen interest to complete further training in this area.

Laura is regularly updating her skills and has completed a number of courses including Pilates, Sports Traumatology and First Aid and will complete Myofacial Trigger Point Therapy and Dry Needling Therapy courses in the coming months.

 


 

Michelle Coen

Michelle Coen

Michelle qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Salford in Manchester in 2011. Prior to this Michelle had completed a degree in Health science and Physiology at the Institute of Technology Sligo. Since qualifying as a Physiotherapist Michelle has worked in the NHS developing a keen interest in neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Michelle’s experience ranges from working in specialist neurological rehabilitation, elderly rehabilitation, acute and chronic respiratory medicine, women’s health, acute stroke, cardiac rehabilitation , Orthopedics’ and musculoskeletal outpatients.

 

Through Michelle’s experience she has developed a solid understanding of working with the elderly and post falls rehabilitation.

Whilst in the UK Michelle completed many postgraduate training courses. These included a level 4 sports massage qualification form the Sports Massage Association UK, combined approach to sacroiliac joint assessment and treatment , kinesio taping , DMA level one Pilates and normal movement Bobath- level 1, 2 and 3.

 

Michelle is committed to continuing her professional development and will be completing ongoing courses in the future.

 

Michelle is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.






Therese Leahy

Sarah Cosgrave


Sarah, originally from Westport in Mayo, obtained her BSc. Physiotherapy degree from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.

 

Sarah is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist. Sarah has gained invaluable experience in the NHS working in the areas of Musculoskeletal, Neurology, Care of the Elderly, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Rehabilitation.

 

Sarah has a particular interest in football and GAA and has worked with a semi-professional football club in the UK and more recently with her local GAA club over the past season.

 

Having been actively involved as a player in many sports teams over the years Sarah understands the importance of retuning to full fitness as soon as possible to be able to return to play!

 

Sarah is committed to continually updating her skills and has completed a Dry Needling course will undertake a Pilates instructor course in the coming weeks.

Mary Butler – Operations Manager

Mary a graduate in Front Office & Hospitality from GMIT worked extensively in the hospitality Industry in some of Galway’s leading hotels for over a decade before diversifying into Property Management.  There some of her duties included Liaising with tenants, owners, contractors and developers before being promoted to Credit Controller within the company.


Marys duties within Homecare Physio include managing client enquires and the day to day running and financial control of the business.
