I.T.E.C- Qualified with Diploma in Sports Injury/ Massage Therapy from Limerick Institute of Sports Injury & Massage in 2000. Since then John has treated a wide variety of injuries both sports related and general areas. Dealing with clients on a one to one professional basis at his clinic, he has also developed a large portfolio of sports clubs in all codes in Galway and has physically trained numerous hurling and football teams at adult level as well as attending to the clubs injury treatment needs. For the 2011 season John is involved with Mayo Senior Hurlers in a trainer/ coach/ selector capacity.
Therese Leahy is a Chartered Physiotherapist at John Butler Sports Injury Clinic since 2013. She graduated with a first class honours degree from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.
Therese has gained experience in a range of clinical settings in the NHS and HSE including cardio respiratory, neurology, sports, care of the elderly, rehabilitation, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal and paediatrics. Over the years she has worked with a number of sports teams here in Ireland, the UK and the USA.
More recently, Therese has developed a special interest in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy and she has treated a wide range of athletes. She is continually updating her skills and has completed a number of courses including, Sports Massage (ITEC Level 3), Myofascial Dry Needling, APPI Matwork Pilates Level 1 & 2, Sports & Kinesiology Taping, Flexibility, Sports First Aid. Therese is due to start her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in September.
Laura is a graduate of University College Dublin with BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. She is a fully licensed Physiotherapist and a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.
Laura has gained a variety of experience in the HSE in areas such as Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Care of the Elderly, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and also in private practice in Chicago, USA.
Laura has a special interest in Neurology and Care of the Elderly. She has clinical experience working with people post stroke and a variety of neurological conditions. Also rehabilitating people post falls and fractures.
Laura has postgraduate training in Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute matwork level 1 and has a keen interest to complete further training in this area.
Laura is regularly updating her skills and has completed a number of courses including Pilates, Sports Traumatology and First Aid and will complete Myofacial Trigger Point Therapy and Dry Needling Therapy courses in the coming months.
Mary Butler – Operations Manager
Mary a graduate in Front Office & Hospitality from GMIT worked extensively in the hospitality Industry in some of Galway’s leading hotels for over a decade before diversifying into Property Management. There some of her duties included Liaising with tenants, owners, contractors and developers before being promoted to Credit Controller within the company.
Marys duties within Homecare Physio include managing client enquires and the day to day running and financial control of the business.
